The Hire Ability Day Luncheon is an opportunity for employers, who value diversity, to come together with other employers who have hired people with developmental disabilities and their employees. The luncheon features local and national speakers addressing the issue of reaching out to an under utilized, qualified workforce.
Keynote speaker for the 2009 luncheon was Deb Russell from Walgreen's. She talked about her experience developing distribution centers that use universal design to accommodate all employees with and without disabilities. For more information about Walgreen's commitment to employing persons with disabilities, visit their website at www.walgreensoutreach.com
Previous years speakers are Brian Kingsbury from Safeway, Bret Stewart from Centertwist Inc., Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Seattle, and representatives from a large manufacturing firm from Georgia, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
